Blake’s engagement

Blake had given us a heads up a few months ago, that he was ready to pop the question. He had mentioned that he would like to do it just before they left for their holiday in Zanzibar, but we hadn’t heard much about it until the beginning of November.

As excited as I was, I didn’t want to out any pressure in him so we waited patiently.
Then one day out of the blue he sent me a picture of the ring he had found and the discussion started-when? Where? How?
After much back and forth he finally sent me a picture of THE ring, along with a call from him at the jeweller. He sounded so nervous but so happy and excited, it was contagious.

By the beginning of December, he had a plan to pop into Robyns parents home and ask for he hand in marriage, but he still didn’t know how he was going to propose. Her parents were thrilled, I remember how happy he was when he called to tell me the next day.

It was only on Hunters birthday that he told us how he was going to propose. He had this idea to get Coke cans made with “will you marry me?” on them, and got them printed at work. The only problem was that the cans wouldn’t be ready by the time they left for Zanzibar. He asked if I could set the whole thing up as instructed while he was away so that he could propose the minute they got back.

So on Saturday the 19th of December, I must have spent an hour checking that everything was perfect. The cans were placed in the fridge with the ring at the end of the question. Now you would think that the fridge would be relatively empty but not so much! The flowers and bubbly were left in the man cave, and the cherry on the cake was a letter from the body corporate stating that the power had been on and off (a usual occurence in SA) and they should check all appliances and especially the fridge for damage.

After Stressful flight delays and massive storms they arrived and the proposal went off without a hitch.

Welcome to the Dunlops Robyn, we are so pleased to have you as an Aunty and sister, but mostly to my baby brother…(I say with tears in my eyes) CONGRATULATIONS! You have chosen a strong and loving women to be your wife. I am so proud of you and wish you a lifetime of memorable moments!
